Replacement glazing

At B&M Glazing in Harrow, we offer a full replacement service to many local clients and customers. We also provide this service to many shops, hotels and office complexes, as well as schools, hospitals and other public buildings. Works undertaken have included replacement mirrors, double glazed units, safety glass, fire resistant glass and decorative glass. For the conversion and refurbishment of existing buildings, we are able to service existing windows and replace glazing where required.

Older style windows

The older style glass types that are found in older windows can include leaded lights and antique glass for listed buildings. Lead light windows can either be repaired in situ, removed for repair works to be carried out, or totally re-made from scratch using the original lead light pane of glass as a template. In addition to this, if the frames or fittings of the window are in need of repair, then a large number of the original window fittings as well as glass can be obtained for the repair of the existing window. If windows are stiff due to wear and tear and a limited amount of servicing over the years, then we can refurbish them, to get them operational again, retaining many of the original parts and fittings. A number of our glaziers are skilled in the art of putty glazing, which is sometimes required for the repair or refurbishment of existing window frames that are in need of care and attention. This can be replacement of glass, or the replacement of broken or defective putty, which has become unsightly after years of weathering.

UPVC and aluminium windows

A common problem with double glazed windows that have been installed for a number of years is the deterioration of the double glazed units, that are glazed in the frames. This is noticeable by condensation or misting up, on the inside of the double glazed unit, between the two panes of glass. However these can be replaced, with no disturbance or replacement of the frames. As long as the frames are in good condition, this is a cost effective way to get the glass looking as good as new again.
